Jardim António Nobre, better known as Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara, located on the street with the same name, in the parish of Misericórdia, near Bairro Alto, and overlooking avenida da Liberdade, was inaugurated in 1864, by the Lisbon Municipal Council, replacing the old vegetable garden of the Royal Guard of the Police, that existed there. Its popular name originates in the convent of the arrábidos friars of the order of San Francisco, located in front, built in century XVII.
