With the rise of the bourgeoisie, in the nineteenth century and the increase of new ceramic factories, such as the famous Viúva Lamego factory, the use of tile in the lining of buildings and public spaces was further multiplied by combining colors and varied designs, romantic inspiration, evolving at the beginning of the 20th century, to an aesthetics closer to the Art Nouveau, or alternatively, to a more nationalistic and traditional production.
